Cops Shoots 24 Year Old Man Twice In The Head and Once In The Neck In North Philly

NORTH PHILADELPHIA – August 12, 2012 – A Philadelphia officer was forced to fire his
weapon at a suspect who allegedly pointed his gun and Temple University police.  Around
1:45 Sunday morning, Philadelphia and Temple University officers responded to the report
of a man armed with a gun on the 1300 block of North 8th Street.  Temple police arrived on
the scene first and found a 24-year-old man with a gun, running down the 700 block of
Thompson Street.  Officers went in pursuit and the suspect allegedly pointed his gun at
police.  Before the man could fire his weapon, a Philadelphia officer from the 26th district
opened fire, striking the suspect twice in the head and once in the neck.  The suspect was
 taken via ambulance to Hahnemann Hospital in critical condition.  Police tell Action News
that they recovered a handgun at the scene.  Still no word on why the man was armed.
